Label: SRB

On July 19, 1975, Elvis Presley took the stage at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the first of two performances before a combined audience of more than 30,000 fans. While the evening show has often received the greater attention, the afternoon concert reveals a vitalized artist in full control of his commanding stage prescence.

The show balances familiar concert favorites with moments of spontaneity, from joking with the audience to encouraging James Burton's dazzling "chicken pickin'" guitar work. Strong performances of "The Wonder of You," "Trying to Get to You," "Burning Love," and a powerful "You Gave Me a Mountain" remind listeners that Elvis remained a powerful live performer during one of his strongest touring periods of the mid-1970s.

Among the afternoon show's highlights is an uncommon rendition of the gospel medley "Bosom of Abraham / You Better Run," featuring Charlie Hodge taking the lead vocal while Elvis provides bass. It is a rare role reversal and one of the concert's most memorable moments, offering a glimpse into the camaraderie that existed on stage.

“One Day in Uniondale, Vol. I” presents this performance in a new SRB Records stereo remaster, carefully restoring the recording while preserving the excitement and atmosphere inside Nassau Coliseum. This is the opening chapter of a remarkable day that captures Elvis at the height of his powers in the summer of 1975.
