"Goodnight, Indianapolis” captures the final concert performance by Elvis Presley, recorded on June 26, 1977 at Market Square Arena and presented here in a newly restored SRB Records remaster. History has understandably placed enormous weight on this performance, but beyond its significance as the last show, what remains most striking is the determination and spirit Elvis brought to the stage that night.

Before flying to Indianapolis, Elvis had spent the day resting at Graceland, arriving in Indiana shortly after 6:00 p.m., where RCA executives greeted him with a plaque commemorating the company’s two billionth record pressed—achieved during production of “Moody Blue”. Inside Market Square Arena, 18,000 fans waited through the opening acts as anticipation steadily built. When the lights finally dimmed and the familiar strains of “2001” filled the arena, the tension in the room was unmistakable. Then came “See See Rider,” and with Elvis’s entrance, the audience erupted.

Compared to the more troubled performances filmed earlier that week, Indianapolis revealed a more focused and energized Elvis. The set moved with confidence through both recent material and longtime concert staples, while quieter moments showed a performer still deeply connected to his audience and band.

Today, with Elvis, and the Market Square Arena long gone, “Goodnight, Indianapolis” remains both a farewell and a reminder: even at the end, Elvis Presley could still command a stage, connect with an audience, and deliver performances that carried heart, power, and unmistakable presence.
